The Port of Long Beach set a new record for cargo volume in July
The ports of SAN Pedro Bay saw a spike in shipments, while the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles both set records. The Port of Long Beach handled 882,376 TEUs in July, an increase of 52.6% over the same period last year, with imports surging 60.5%, exports up 16.3%, and the number of empty containers also surging 57.8%. This marks the third busiest month for the Port of Long Beach in its 113-year history. In the first seven months, the port has shipped a total of 5,174,002 TEUs, an increase of 20% year-on-year. Mario Cordero, CEO of the Port of Long Beach, said that with back-to-school shopping and expectations of tariff adjustments, the port is efficiently and sustainably responding to the challenges of the shipping season.
